1. What is the Law School Admission Test—India, by LSAC (LSAT—India)?


The LSAT—India is a standardized test of reading and verbal reasoning skills designed by the USA based Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for use by law schools in India.


The LSAT—India will be administered across 16 Pearson VUE test centre locations in India and at select overseas Pearson VUE test centre locations. The test will be administered in a paper and pencil format in India and in computer-based testing (CBT) mode at overseas locations.



2. What is the duration of the test?


The total duration of the test is 2 hours and 35 minutes including a break of 15 minutes.



3. What is the description of the test?


The LSAT—India is a paper-and-pencil test with four sections. Two of the sections contain logical reasoning questions; one section contains analytical reasoning questions; and one section contains reading comprehension questions. The amount of time allotted for each section is 35 minutes. There is one 15-minute break between section 2 and section 3. All questions are in a multiple-choice format, some with four answer choices and others with five. Answers are collected on a scannable answer sheet.



4. When will the LSAT—India be administered?


The LSAT—India will be administered across locations in India and overseas on May 16th 2010.



5. Where will the tests be administered?


The locations for the LSAT—India in India are:


North: Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow
South: Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad
West: Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Mumbai, Pune
East: Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Raipur, Ranchi

The locations for the LSAT—India overseas are:


Bangkok, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, Manila, Singapore, Sydney



6. What is the last date to register?


For a candidate testing within India:

The last date to register through the regular online registration window is 19th April, 2010. If you wish to register later, you may so do on payment of an additional fee, during the late registration window, which ends on 30th April, 2010.


For a candidate testing outside India:


The last date to register for the LSAT—India is 19th April, 2010.



7. Which law schools require the LSAT—India?

8. Are there eligibility requirements to sit in the LSAT—India?


All registrants who complete the test registration, pay the test fee in a timely way, and follow published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India. It is your responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the participating law schools to which you are applying before deciding whether to register for the LSAT—India. If you register for the test and then determine that you are ineligible for admission to your intended law school, no test- fee refund will be available. For the eligibility requirements of the participating law schools, please visit the participating law schools webpage and also please visit the websites of the participating schools for more detailed information about the school, their eligibility requirements and their courses.



9. How is the LSAT—India different from the LSAT®?


The LSAT—India includes the same question types as the LSAT, but it is shorter and scores are reported on a different scale. The LSAT—India does not include a writing sample, while the LSAT does. LSAT scores are used for admission to many law schools in the US, Canada and Australia, while LSAT—India scores are used only within India.



10. Can I use my LSAT—India score to apply to law schools outside of India?


No, the LSAT—India is designed for use by law schools in India and scores cannot be reported to law schools in other countries.



11. I have an LSAT score. Can I use it to apply to a law school in India?


No, LSAT scores are reported only to certain law schools in the US, Canada and Australia.



12. Will I be able to use my LSAT—India 2010 score for admission in later years?


No, for each year's admission cycle, you must sit for the LSAT—India given in that year.



13. How should I prepare for the test?

FAQs – About the Registration Process


1. How can I register for the LSAT—India?


Registration for the LSAT—India is online and can be done by submitting the form on the LSAT—India website. Payment for the registration by test takers in India can be done online (via credit card only) or through a demand draft. The demand draft should reach the below mentioned address on or before 19th April, 2010 either by post or courier.

If you are a candidate testing from outside India, you can pay online via a credit card only.



2. How will I know if my registration has been accepted?


In case your registration is accepted, an acknowledgement of the same will be e-mailed by Pearson VUE. If your registration is not accepted, a notification will be e-mailed to you.



3. Can I get a refund of my test registration fee?  


Please refer to the 'Refund of Registration Fee' section of the 'Testing Rules under Test Overview on this website.



4. What will happen if my registration form or payment details are incomplete?


If any detail is incomplete from the form or the payment has not been completed, the registration will not be accepted. If this happens, a notification will be sent to you.
