Law College Dehradun


A pioneering college to say the least, Law College Dehradun has the distinction of being the first independent law college of Uttarakhand state. A humble beginning marked the start of this college which has now been gloriously imparting legal education for the past eight years. Led by some of the true visionaries, the curricula have been designed to impart quality legal education and make the success a by-product.


Our college accommodates students from all over the country. Every year, the college opens its doors to over 240 students for our B.A. LL.B. 5-year integrated degree course and an additional 160 students for our LL.B. 3-year degree course. The introduction of 2-year Post Graduation LL.M. course scheduled to begin from the academic session 2010-11 adds another feather to its already covered cap. A student community exceeding 1200 bright youngsters belongs to the Law College family.


Since its inception in 2002, the college has been consistently producing University Merit holders. The students have brought laurels to the college by attaining 34 University merits including 4 gold medals. Many a scholar has passed through the corridors of this college on way to becoming legal luminary. Our students have been known to add many a chapter to their respective success stories once they leave the college and become part of a proud alumni list that the college can truly boast of.


Our teaching faculty is drawn from famous universities across the country, apart from the visiting faculty chosen from the cream of the legal fraternity. They are not just teachers, but the mentors who guide and motivate the students to always perform to their highest potential. A faculty with unmatched caliber and experience coupled with our state-of-the-art infrastructure go a long way in ensuring that the products of this college stand out as beacons of knowledge in the society.


Law College Dehradun integrates classroom learning with practical knowledge. Several extra-curricular societies have been formed by the college. The Youth Parliament, The Debating Society, The Legal Aid and Awareness Cell (LAAC) and The Moot Court Society to name a few, to train and equip the students with necessary communication and advocacy skills. The students are encouraged to participate in inter-college and intra-college events and they have consistently won numerous prizes therein and have been independently holding Conclaves, Seminars, Moot Court and Youth Parliaments on current issues like Alternate Dispute Resolution, Right to Information and Regionalism etc.


Owing to the sustained efforts of its Chairman - Mr. Jitender Joshi, Managing Director - Mr. G.P Sharma, Principal - Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna and our learned faculty, the college has been able to carve a niche amongst top colleges of the country. Besides, the vision and commitment of the college management, dedicated efforts of the faculty and diligence of the students have brought about a paradigm shift in the quality of legal education to ensure that Law College Dehradun continues to hold its premier position in north India.



Courses

Eligibility

B.A. LL.B. (5 years integrated law program)

The applicant should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination. Should have secured minimum 45% marks and SC/ST minimum 40% marks.
Applicants should satisfy themselves that they fulfill the eligibility requirements in terms of qualifications. If the percentage of marks secured by a candidate at the qualifying examination falls short by even a small fraction, it shall not be rounded to the next whole number. )

LL.B. (3 years)

The applicant should be a graduate in any stream from a recognized university with 45% marks at under graduate level. If the percentage of marks secured by a candidate at the qualifying examination falls short by even a small fraction, it shall not be rounded to the next whole number.
The college also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting eligible candidates as students.

NB: Candidates with LSAT—India scores will be given preference in admission to the above-mentioned degree courses.
